Frequently asked questions
Practical answers about air conditioning and working with Westforge.
All questions
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
+
It depends on the system type and capacity, the equipment brand and model, the length and route of the pipework, mounting and access, and whether electrical work is needed. A single split system costs far less than a zoned ducted system. We don't publish fixed prices; we give a written quote after reviewing your property and requirements.
How long does air conditioning installation take?
+
A straightforward single split system is usually completed in a day. Multi-split and ducted systems take longer, depending on the number of rooms or zones, roof-space access and any electrical upgrades. We confirm the expected timeframe in your quote.
Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?
+
Repair usually makes sense when the system is reasonably young, correctly sized and the fault is isolated. Replacement is worth considering when the unit is old, uses a superseded refrigerant, needs repeated or costly repairs, or never cooled the space properly. After diagnosing the fault we explain both options so you can decide.
How often should a split system be serviced?
+
For most homes, once a year is sensible, ideally before summer. Units in coastal or dusty locations, or running long hours in shops and offices, can benefit from more frequent servicing. Between services, clean the filters every few weeks during heavy use.
Can you repair an existing split-system air conditioner?
+
Yes. We diagnose the fault first, then explain the repair options. If the system is old, inefficient or the repair cost is high relative to its condition, we will tell you whether replacement is the better choice.
What size air conditioner do I need?
+
Capacity depends on more than floor area. We look at room volume, ceiling height, insulation, glazing and window orientation, how many people use the space and when, and whether the room opens into other areas. A west-facing living area with large windows in Baldivis can need noticeably more capacity than a shaded room of the same size. We size from a site assessment rather than a square-metre rule of thumb.
Should I choose split or ducted air conditioning?
+
Split systems suit homes where only a few rooms need conditioning, or where there is no practical roof-space access. Ducted suits whole-of-home comfort with discreet outlets and zoning, provided there is adequate roof space and return-air positioning. Multi-split sits between the two. We explain the trade-offs in running cost, upfront cost, noise and appearance for your specific layout.
Can you replace my existing air conditioner?
+
Yes. Replacement is not always like-for-like. We check whether the existing pipework, drainage, electrical supply and mounting positions can be reused, and whether the original capacity was right in the first place. Older systems using superseded refrigerants generally need a full changeover rather than a partial swap.
Do you install Daikin air conditioning?
+
Daikin is one of the air-conditioning brands we recommend and can specify for suitable applications, including split, multi-split, ducted and light-commercial systems. We also supply other established manufacturers where they better suit the job or budget.
Can you service an air conditioner you didn't install?
+
Yes. We service and repair most mainstream split, ducted and light-commercial systems regardless of who installed them. Providing the brand, model and approximate age when you book helps us arrive prepared.
How often should an air conditioner be serviced?
+
For most homes, an annual service before summer is sensible; coastal properties in Rockingham, Safety Bay and Mandurah benefit from closer attention to outdoor-unit corrosion. Commercial systems running long hours typically need quarterly or six-monthly maintenance, and filters may need cleaning more often in dusty or high-traffic sites.
Do you service commercial properties?
+
Yes. We work with offices, retail, hospitality, workshops, warehouses, healthcare and education sites, and property managers across Perth's south and Peel.
Do you offer preventative maintenance agreements?
+
Yes. We set up scheduled maintenance programs for homes and commercial sites, with a service frequency matched to equipment type, run hours and site conditions, and service records kept for each asset.
What areas do you service?
+
We are based in Rockingham and service Perth South of the River, Mandurah and the Peel region — including Rockingham, Kwinana, Baldivis, Cockburn, Fremantle, Canning Vale, Armadale, Byford and Mandurah. Not sure if we service your suburb? Contact us and we'll confirm availability.
Do you service Mandurah?
+
Yes. Mandurah, Halls Head, Meadow Springs, Greenfields and the wider Peel region are part of our core service area.
Do you service Cockburn?
+
Yes. We regularly service Cockburn suburbs including Success, Bibra Lake, Jandakot, Henderson and Spearwood.
Can you work with property managers and strata companies?
+
Yes. We coordinate access with tenants, provide clear quotes for owner approval, and supply written reports and photos so property managers can make decisions without attending site.
Do you provide commercial maintenance programs?
+
Yes. Commercial maintenance programs are scheduled around trading hours, with asset lists, service records and recommendations for repairs or replacement provided after each visit.
Who carries out licensed electrical and refrigerant work?
+
Regulated installation and service work is undertaken by appropriately licensed trades. Licensed technicians and specialist trade contractors are used where required for electrical and refrigerant-handling work.
